Unlikely Heroes - Part 2 - David

As a young man, David displayed tremendous courage by standing against the giant Philistine who taunted God’s people. Armed with faith in God and a boy’s slingshot, David singlehandedly defeated Israel’s biggest foe. But as much as he did right, David was prone to making some terrible and costly decisions. So, when you find yourself feeling angry, lonely, or afraid (like David), that’s a good time to stop making big decisions.

Heroes ask questions nobody else is asking and see things a little differently than the rest of the crowd. They feel the need to step forward when others step back. David certainly didn’t look like a hero. He didn’t look like a giant killer. He wasn’t trained for battle, and yet, he knew that he had to do something. Today, we’ll look into this particular moment in the life of this unlikely hero of the Bible in our new series.

Looking Ahead

Abraham and Moses stood firm on their faith because they trusted God and looked forward to the rewards He had promised them. We encourage you to do the same – look to God and the promises He has for you this coming year!

The Gift of Love

Loving one another is the most powerful way we can demonstrate how much God loves us. 1 John 4:9-12 states that “God showed his love among us...that he loved us." So let's embrace this example set forth by Him through our relationships with each other — loving without hesitation or limit.

The Gift of Joy

In our world today, there is a lot to be upset or discouraged about; but the message of Christmas is: there is a lot to be joyful about because of Jesus. So choose to be joyful today!

When You Care, You Share
